Presto 05466 ProFry Stainless-Steel Dual-Basket The Presto 5466 is an ideal deep fryer for families and small groups of 5-6 people. It has over a one gallon tank capacity and is comparable in size to a large toaster oven. While this is bigger than most consumer deep fryers on the market the 1800 watt immersion heating element can deep fry quickly and provide fast oil-temperature recovery. And with a dual basket design you can fry two things at once. Presto also sell a single jumbo basket if you prefer. The controls are fairly basic with a simple adjustable thermostat that allows for selecting a variety of frying temperatures, and a signal light that indicates when the oil is ready for frying. This light goes off when the oil reaches the specified temperature. Some may find this arrangement a safety hazard. Also, there is no timer control. Some users have reported problems with inaccurate oil temperatures. This is usually because of the large capacity pot. To rectify gently stir the oil in order to distribute the heat evenly and things should be fine. The unit comes with a cover that acts as a spatter shield when lowering food into hot oil, and the heating element and enameled pot remove easily for quick cleanup.
